Career Resources

Your Career.
Our Commitment.

Your Career Journey Doesn’t Have to Be a Solo Mission

Whether you’re landing your first job, switching industries, or leveling up in your field, you don’t have to figure it out alone. Our dedicated Career Development Office is staffed by certified coaches who work exclusively with MCS, MSWE, MDS, and MHCID students — offering personalized coaching and employment preparation designed around the unique paths of Professional Master’s students, including those pursuing roles in software engineering, data science, AI/ML, product management, UI/UX design and research, and everything in between.

We are not a job placement agency. We’re your coaches, your strategists, and your biggest advocates. We believe the job search is yours to lead — and we’re here to make sure you have the tools and resources to lead it well.

We are here when you need us. Whether you come in for an individual or group coaching session, attend a workshop, or build your professional network through employer panels and alumni mock interviews, our goal goes beyond graduation — to arm you with the job search skills and confidence to navigate every opportunity, now and throughout your career.

Below is an overview of what we offer. For more detail, please visit the Resources for Current Students page.

What We Offer

Resources and support designed exclusively for MCS, MDS, MHCID, and MSWE

CODE: Your Career Hub

CODE is the exclusive online platform for MCS, MSWE, MDS, and MHCID students — and your home base for everything career-related between sessions. Book coaching appointments, stay up to date on upcoming events and workshops, and access a curated library of on-demand resources available 24/7 — covering everything from resume templates, interview preparation guides, salary benchmarking, and networking guides. Everything in one place, always at your fingertips.

Career Workshops

From your first resume draft to navigating a competing offer, our workshops meet you where you are. Offered on a rolling basis throughout the year, sessions cover the full spectrum: resume writing, interview techniques, job search strategies, internship planning, salary negotiation, career fair preparation, working in the U.S., time management, and more. Practical, actionable, and built specifically for Professional Master's students.

Individual Career Coaching

One appointment, one advisor, and all the focus on you. Book an individual session with a member of the Career Development Team for anything from resume and LinkedIn reviews to mock interviews, offer evaluations, salary negotiations, job search strategy, and career planning. Wherever you are in the process — first job, pivot, or promotion — we are ready to dig in with you.

Group Career Coaching

The Career Development Team facilitates small group coaching sessions designed to keep your job search moving — and to remind you that you are not doing this alone. Work through the process alongside peers who get it, share wins, troubleshoot challenges, and build the kind of community that lasts well beyond graduation.

Mock Interviews

We offer mock interviews with a career development expert both in-person and via Zoom, covering the full range of formats you will encounter in the real world. We also host quarterly mock interview events with alumni volunteers, giving you real-world perspectives from people who have sat where you are sitting and are now on the other side of the table.

Job & Internship Listings

Your next opportunity is waiting to be found. Our CODE platform features listings curated specifically for ICS professional masters students — targeted postings selected to align with your program and your path. Access to the Handshake platform broadens your reach across the wider UC Irvine campus community and is your go-to for career fairs, including the UC Irvine STEM Career Fair. Rounding out your toolkit, the Interstride platform is purpose-built for international students searching for visa-sponsoring employers and immigration guidance, and for domestic students with an eye on careers and internships abroad.

Alumni & Industry Events

Some of the best career advice comes from people who have already walked this road. Through professional panels, company info sessions, networking events, and tech talks, you will have real opportunities to engage with alumni and industry professionals who can offer genuine insight, broaden your perspective, and open doors you did not know were there.

LinkedIn Groups & Alumni Directory

Your network is one of your most valuable career assets — and we have made it easier to build one. Join invite-only LinkedIn Groups exclusive to your program to stay connected with peers and alumni already working in your field. Through CODE, you also have access to a student-alumni directory that lets you search by industry, company, role, or location — making it easy to find the right mentor, get an insider perspective, or land a warm introduction.
